Looking Back and Moving Forward – A Blogging Update

by onepaperstreet

Hey everyone! With the craziness of the New Year it’s been a little while since I’ve posted to say hello to you. There have been lots of things happening, and I wanted to take a moment to share them all with you. Keep reading for the latest blogging update about 2018!

In December, I decided to start creating my cards live on www.twitch.tv. One of the best things about Twitch is that you get to see all the steps of making a card in real time. I get to interact with my audience, find out how your day is going, and also just share some of my best practices with my viewers.

It’s been a blast, but it’s also been a bit of a learning experience. I’ve had a couple streams end quickly because my camera died, and one stream where the sound didn’t work at all… but I can honestly say that I’m working through the kinks quickly! Lol. So come join me if you are ever interested in getting a behind the scenes look at what it takes to make a greeting card in real time. You can ask me questions, follow me, and even make a request for a greeting card you might like to see.

After careful consideration, and in relation to some recent events, I’ve decided not to continue creating YouTube videos. I know that YouTube is a very prominent way to get your video content out into the internet, but every 3-5 minute video takes approximately 2-4 hours to create, cut, narrate and prepare. The time it takes to create quality short videos, plus some recent rules they’ve passed make it impossible for a small YouTube channel like mine to ever see the monetized fruits of that labor. While I’m not currently trying to monetize my art, those things combined make YouTube feel like it’s not the best use of my time. I do appreciate everyone who has subscribed to my YouTube channel, and I will leave all of the content there, I just simply won’t be making any more videos for a while.

New Techniques and a Giveaway!

I’ve been testing out some new techniques, such as watercolor, hand lettering and some new types of ink that I’m looking forward to showing you all in the near future. I’m also going to be doing a giveaway when I hit 400 followers on Instagram. You could be next to win $20 worth of One Paper Street greeting cards! So start following @OnePaperStreet today, and stay tuned!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and stay tuned for more Tutorials in the coming week!
